Keanu Reeves to appear in a video game
Cyberpunk to feature the John Wick star in person
He lent his voice to the John Wick video game of which he’s the star, but is now taking things a step further. The only man to ever actually see the Matrix is getting his own video game. Keanu Reeves has announced that he’s going to star in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game.
The game is expected to be released on April 16 next year and will be made available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to the game’s developers, CD Projekt Red. The company announced the game during a recent Xbox E3 presentation, but made no mention of Reeves leading the action. A subsequent trailer provided by Microsoft also kept everyone in the dark, not revealing his participation until he made his announcement during the presentation.
When Reeves took the stage, the audience could hardly be controlled. He had difficulty relaying details of the game, having to fight against the screams and applause of his fans in the crowd. When he was finally able to assert, “The feeling of being there is really going to be breathtaking,” a quick-witted attendee responded, “You’re breathtaking!”
True to form for any big release, details are sketchy. The world now knows that Reeves is in the game, and that he has a bionic arm, but not much else has been revealed. CD Projekt Red added that Reeves’ character is called Johnny Silverhand and stated, “In addition to his appearance and voice, Reeves is also providing full-body motion capture for the character.” The lack of more information is undoubtedly meant to drum up additional interest in the game and help increase sales.
