John Wick to get his own video game
A trailer for the game hints at what’s to come
The John Wick character is the latest to be immortalized in a video game. The hitman (and dog-avenger) is coming to a strategy game called John Wick Hex and, while not many details have yet been released, a there’s a trailer available on YouTube designed to whet the gaming appetite.
The game is being directed by Lionsgate Games, Good Shepard Entertainment and Mike Bitchell, the man behind Thomas Was Alone. It will offer turn-based strategy and Wick’s signature action-packed “gun-fu” style that made the film franchise famous.
Good Shepard describes the game as “fight-choreographed chess,” adding, “Created in close cooperation with the creative and stunt teams behind the films, John Wick Hex is fight-choreographed chess brought to life as a video game, capturing the series’ signature gun fu style while expanding its story universe. Players must choose every action and attack they make, while considering their immediate cost and consequences. Every move in John Wick Hex feels like a scene from the movies, and every fight contributes to your progress on the job and requires precise strategic thinking.”
The game will also feature Wick’s suits and unlockable weapons, as well as ammo that is “realistically simulated, so time your reloads and make the most of the weapons you scavenge on the job.” It isn’t known if Keanu Reeves will be the voice of Wick as he is in the movies, but fellow Wick actors Ian McShane and Lance Reddick are definitely present.
No release date has been announced, but it will definitely be on certain consoles. It will also be available for Mac and PC – as an Epic Store exclusive, despite the company’s recent decision to move away from exclusivity.
