Gfinity selected as partner for Wega World Cup
The eSports organization will be the primary management partner for the inaugural event
Gfinity is putting itself in the spotlight once again. The eSports organization has announced that it has been chosen to be the primary consulting and program management partner for the Wega World Cup, a new eSports tournament that will be held alongside the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals to be held in Qatar. Gfinity’s presence as the partner comes via a partnership with Truxtun Capital.
Wega is a global payments solution provider and is, like many other organizations, looking to capitalize on the popularity of eSports. Gfinity is going to be tasked with the planning and design of the event’s offline and online formats, both of which will use the group’s proprietary technology, as well as overseeing the commercial and media rights content strategy and marketing for the tournament. It will also be responsible for overseeing any third-party involvement.
Speaking of the deal, Gfinity’s executive chairman, Garry Cook, stated, “To have been chosen as the global strategic partner and a consultant to help deliver this bold and ambitious project is another big step forward for Gfinity. Increasingly, we are being sought out for our advisory capabilities, combined with strengths in the design, development and delivery of outstanding competitive gaming solutions. We will leverage our technology, expert knowledge of esports management and unparalleled insight into the gaming community to deliver this landmark programme. As the project progresses, we are well placed to expand our mandate to provide additional services in the lead up to 2022.”
The tournaments – both the online and offline versions – are expected to get underway next year, although the games are still to be selected. Gfinity will be organizing a launch event for the tournaments and will also be announcing annual eSports festivals related to the Wega World Cup.
Truxten Capital President Patrick Moynier adds, “Gfinity presents the perfect partner for us due to its proven track record in delivering esports solutions for its partners. The esports industry is booming, and we look forward to working with Gfinity to deliver this ambitious and exciting project to coincide with the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup in 2022.”
