Fortnite’s volcano has begun to erupt
The volcano was just added this past February
Fortnite has it all – military battles, aliens, secret maps and even volcanoes. The popular video game saw a volcano rise from the ground this past February and it didn’t take long before gamers began noticing a little smoke emanating from the volcano’s vent, then a little more. Now, lava has started to pour out from the volcano and it appears the aliens are to blame.
Putting the different components of the game together, the only conclusion is that the volcano has been triggered by alien artifacts. A few weeks ago, an alien rune appeared on Fortnite’s island and players found out that they could collectively move it around the map. The destination was a spaceship-style structure excavated at Loot Lake. A fifth rune has now appeared on the map and it apparently activated the volcano.
Several times after the fifth rune appeared, the smoke intensified, turning orange and returning to its greyish hue several times. However, lava is definitely flowing and players can make “ritual sacrifices” by dropping materials and ammo into the volcano. The fifth rune includes a meter that, when registered full, results in the volcano once again erupting. As with any large volcanic eruption (think the Hawaiian Islands), the result will most likely be some sort of change to the Fortnite landscape.
Season 9 is coming on May 9. Any changes to Fortnite can be expected to be launched at that time and anything is possible. It has already seen rolling cubes and in-game concerts, and developers will certainly want to kick things up a notch.
