Prince Harry calls Fortnite “irresponsible,” thinks it should be banned
The royal offspring made his comments during a trip to the YMCA in London
The Duke of Sussex believes video games are destroying today’s youth. Prince Harry made his comments during an event at a YMCA in London designed to promote mental health and asserted that video games are causing addiction and social problems and need to be controlled. He specifically called out Fortnite, stating, “It’s created to addict. An addiction to keep you in front of a computer for as long as possible. It’s so irresponsible.”
Harry, who grew up in a world surrounded by butlers and caterers from the time he was born, went on to say that parents “don’t know what to do about it,” adding, “It’s like waiting for the damage to be done.”
Some would argue that, if there were an issue, the responsible thing would be for parents to limit the amount of time spent on video games – not force society to make the decision.
Harry also stated, “Without that human connection, when you do have a problem you have nowhere to go. The only place you might go is online and you will probably end up getting bullied.” Of course, for years, only human connections existed, people still had problems and were still bullied.
It has been said that some children spend as many as 12 hours a day playing Fortnite. It’s difficult to understand how this is possible, given schools, meals, homework, etc. Unfortunately, too often, people only bother reading the headlines and don’t pay attention to the real story to truly understand what’s going on, leading them to draw unwarranted conclusions.
