Poker Brat challenged to heads-up matches by casino owner
Rob Yong wants to take on the poker legend
The owner of the Dusk Till Dawn casino, Rob Yong, has challenged The Poker Brat to a duel. The two heavyweights are going to sit down for a series of heads-up games, with more than just a little cash on the line. So far, the odds are on Hellmuth most likely sweeping the series.
Hellmuth announced the challenge on Twitter, stating, “Rob Yong challenged me to FIVE $100,000 Heads Up No Limit Hold’em matches, 100BB deep, [with] a 50 minute [sic] clock (to [raise] the blinds), I accepted – who wins?” He added a Yes/No poll and, so far, he’s the favorite, with 57% of the 8,000 respondents indicating that he’ll win.
Hellmuth has amazing skills at the tables, but also possesses what seems like an uncanny talent in heads-up action. He won the National Heads Up Poker Championship in 2005, almost won it in 2013 (making it to the final) and won the Poker Night in America King of the Hill heads-up battle in 2017.
Yong is no slouch at the felt, either. He may not have 15 WSOP bracelets like his opponent, but he is able to hold his own and loves shorthanded NLHE games. When he isn’t running things at Dusk Till Dawn, he is heavily involved in Partypoker and feels confident in his game against Hellmuth. He told HighStakesDB, “I like Phil but I’d be pretty shocked if he won. And I mean that in the nicest way!”
The date and venue for the competition have not yet been released.
