Macaulay Caulkin becomes videogame producer
The “Home Alone” star has gotten into ToeJam & Earl
He is known – and probably always will be – as the kid who bested the bumbling bad guys in the Home Alone movies. However, Macaulay Culkin has moved past the cameras of Hollywood stardom and is pursuing his true passion – video games. Culkin is a fan of ToeJam & Earl and likes it so much that he has decided to become an executive producer for the series.
The upcoming sequel to the series, Back in the Groove, is looking for funding through Kickstarter. It was there that Culkin’s presence as an executive producer was seen, but it isn’t the first time his involvement was made public. In an “Ask Me Anything” session on Reddit a year ago, he announced his passion for the game, which ultimately caught the attention of the studio behind the game, HumaNature. They got in touch with Culkin, invited him to visit their studio and the rest, as they say, is history.
In a press release on his involvement as an executive producer, Culkin stated, “I’m honored to be producing the new ToeJam & Earl because it is literally my favorite video game of all time. Plus, Greg Johnson is the tits!” Johnson is a video game designer and founder of HumaNature Studios.
The first ToeJam & Earl game was introduced for the Sega Genesis in 1991. It started off slowly, but gained a cult following and was ultimately considered a success. There have been sequels since its inception, but Back in the Groove will be the first in almost 20 years.
The new ToeJam & Earl is ready to make its debut. It is expected to be released tomorrow, and will be available for the Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC.
