Legendary Vegas bookie to oversee PA sportsbook
Jimmy Vaccaro is the new Director of Sports Relations for Rivers Casino
Jimmy Vaccaro has been around Las Vegas almost as long as Vegas itself has been around. He is a seasoned sportsbook veteran who has been waiting his whole life to see sports gambling legalized across the country. Now, the industry stalwart is taking his talents and skills to Pennsylvania where he has become the Director of Sports Relations for Rivers Casino.
The 73-year-old, who originally hails from PA, is ecstatic. He explains, “I waited all my life to see this … I’ve been telling everybody who would listen: Whatever impact you see now, not just in Pennsylvania but across the nation, it will be three times busier.”
Vaccaro is already installed in his new home, having arrived just in time for the Super Bowl. Rivers celebrated a trifecta of firsts with the big game – a new sportsbook, the first Super Bowl bets and a new director that has more experience and knowledge than anyone in the industry.
According to Rivers Casino GM Bill Keena, “We’re thrilled to bring Jimmy back home to Pennsylvania. When it comes to sports betting — customer experience, operational excellence, setting the odds — Jimmy is the gold standard.”
Vaccaro is the man most turn to when they want advice or expert commentary. However, he wasn’t always the top man. He arrived in Vegas as a nobody, with no experience and no knowledge. This all changed, though, and is now sought for conferences, seminars, interviews and virtually anything related to sports gambling. He will undoubtedly be a driving force behind the success at Rivers and will hopefully continue to bring great things to the industry.
