Jamie Kerstettser, Bill Perkins in the latest prop bet
The poker pro has to go vegan for a year to win $10K
There have been some interesting prop bets in the poker world the past couple of years, from having to walk from California to Las Vegas, to staying locked in a dark bathroom for 30 days. The latest comes via someone who loves making prop bets, Bill Perkins, and poker pro Jamie Kerstetter, who has agreed to go vegan for an entire year in order to pick up $10,000.
The bet began after David Tuchman tweeted, “I feel a prop bet coming… if you’re a meat eater, how much money would you need to go vegan for a year? @RealKidPoker @bp22 @DougPolkPoker @DarryllFish @Liv_Boeree.”
Many of the responses said that it would take at least six figures, but the “Queen of Poker Twitter” chimed in, saying that she would do it for $10,000. She added that she was “interested in doing it anyway and it would cover the more expensive grocery bills.”
Bill Perkins caught wind of it and anted up the bounty. Within a day, Kerstetter was back on Twitter, posting, “I’ve gotten myself into a vegan prop bet
-1 year 2/6/19-2/6/20 for $10K
-blog updates at least 2x/month
-if I quit, @bp22 [Bill Perkins] chooses the places I volunteer 100 hours
-1 year to complete 100 hours or I owe $10K.”
Kerstetter told PokerNews, “Bill [Perkins] rules because he wants to encourage people to do the things they feel they should be doing anyway to have a positive impact on the world. It’s cool that he’s willing to make this bet to hold me accountable and I’m sure he’ll pick some really interesting places for me to volunteer 100 hours if I fail.”
The bookmakers will probably start offering odds on the bet, but Kerstetter has already set the line. She says her chances are 95%.
