Fortnite Season 8 map accidentally released
The next season is set to kick off in just two days
Fortnite fans are gearing up for the upcoming season of the popular game. Season 8 gets underway on February 28 and Epic Games has already started to provide teasers about what’s in store. While it hasn’t made any official announcement about the maps that will be included, it may have accidentally let it slip and the Fortnite bloodhounds were quickly on the trail. At least one of the new locations is apparently going to be called Sharky Shrubs.
Every time a new Fortnite season begins, there are a number of changes introduced to the game’s map. New points of interest are added across the island, new weapons are added and more player capabilities are included. In Season 7, the map saw new snowy areas, such as Polar Peak and Frosty Flights, included, and many began to suspect that some type of nautical-based theme would make its way to the map for Season 8.
A site that specializes in tracking Fortnite, FortniteINTEL, found a backpack being offered on the Sprayground website. The product description for the backpack, dubbed “Fortnite Shark Royale,” included a mention of Sharky Shrubs, and reads, “The ONLY official Fortnite backpack in our Leatherette fabric. Depicting our favorite Fortnite skins running from the storm across Sharky Shrubs.”
That reference has since been removed from the product description, further giving credence to the legitimacy of the nautical theme theory.
Fortnite has not made any official announcement and perhaps they will look for a way to make last-minute changes to not introduce Sharky Shrubs. However, with just a couple of days to go before its launch, that option is most likely off the table.
