William Hill brings sports gambling to Ohio
The sports gambling behemoth partners with Prairie Meadows
William Hill, one of the world’s largest sportsbooks, is moving into Ohio. The UK-based company has signed a partnership deal with the Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino, which will see it expand its sports gambling footprint in the U.S. William Hill is already partnered with a number of casinos around the country and is hoping to eventually be available everywhere sports gambling is offered.
According to an announcement on William Hill’s website, “William Hill […] and Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino […] today announced an innovative partnership that makes William Hill the casino’s official sports book operator, should sports betting become legal under Iowa state law.”
The company’s CEO, Joe Asher, added, “We are excited about the prospect of sports betting in Iowa and are thrilled to partner with Prairie Meadows to be ready for the day when sports betting is legal in the state. We are building a first-class sportsbook that will make Prairie Meadows the place to bet and watch the games.”
The new partnership was finalized two days ago and will be an important agreement to both sides. Prairie Meadows is a popular venue that offers 85,000 square feet of gaming space and 1,700 table games and slot machines, and William Hill is gaining an important partner as it continues its expansion.
A timeline to launch the sportsbook’s operations has not yet been published. However, given William Hill’s desire to ramp up services as quickly as possible, it will most likely do everything within its power to make its launch within the next couple of months.
