Chicago Fire adds to its FIFA 19 team
Chicago native Enrique “BITW18 II” Espinoza joins the team
Later this month, the second season of the eMLS, a soccer eSports league, will get underway when the LA Galaxy host the eMLS League Series One. In February, FC Dallas will host the League Series Two and both competitions are going to see the addition of a new, but not unfamiliar face for the Chicago Fire team. Enrique “BITW18 II” Espinoza, a Chicago native, has joined the team and will represent it during both the eMLS League Series and the eMLS Cup.
Espinoza becomes the second eSports professional for Chicago Fire. He will appear alongside Edhem “HekTic_JukeZ” Jukovic, who represented the Fire in its inaugural season. Espinoza doesn’t have much experience in professional tournaments; however, he is a regular in the FUT Champions and routinely is one of the top 100 of the leaderboard in both North and South America. He placed 61 last November, the highest ranking he has achieved to date.
Both Espinoza and Jukovic are natives to Chicago and Espinoza has been coaching the Chicago Fire Juniors City U-10 Boys soccer club for the past four years. According to the COO of Fire, John Urban, “We’re thrilled to be represented in the eMLS by two Chicago natives with close personal ties to the club, both of whom are FIFA experts with the ability to compete at the highest levels.”
2018 saw the inauguration of the eMLS league and 19 teams competing for first place. All of those teams are coming back for season two, and there will also be three additional teams added to the lineup. These include D.C. United, Atlanta United and FC Cincinnati. The latter will be making its debut in the upcoming season.
