Esports Experts to Discuss New Ways to Drive Revenue
A panel of esports experts is set to appear on a webinar hosted by Venture Beat. The group will discuss the current monetization models in the industry along with ways to break the mold and find new ways to drive revenue.
Experts participating in the webinar include industry strategist Jonathan Singer from Akamai; Ubisoft's esports director Robb Chiarini; the lead writer of Gamesbeat, Dean Takahashi, and Gen.G co-founder Kent Wakeford.
The group will discuss hot topics for companies looking to capitalize on esports. They will compare how the current esports monetization model stacks up to traditional sports. They will provide insights into how leading esports organizations are currently making money.
More importantly, the group will address upcoming changes slated to disrupt the current esports model. These include emerging technologies that will drive change in monetization and the difference between personal streaming and formal esports.
Up until recently, investors interested in esports have stuck to the traditional relationships that rely on broadcasting to measure revenue potential. Brands that were experienced in this model, such as Red Bull and Samsung, were among the first to back professional esports athletes.
While these opportunities still exist and will likely continue, traditional investments are no longer the only options. According to Venture Beat, new avenues are opening up that provide new and current investors with a wide variety of revenue streams to choose from.
The live webinar event is scheduled for December 4 at 12:00 p.m. The event is hosted on the BrightTalk platform.
