The World Series of Poker Circuit kicks off today at Horseshoe Hammond with an eye-catching tournament guarantee. The first event features a $777,777 prize pool and offers multiple starting flights. The stop runs through October 22. It is the circuit's second stop in a row in Indiana.
The Horseshoe Casino in Hammond Indiana will host a series of twelve WSOP Circuit gold ring events. The opening event mentioned above has a $400 buy-in, but it is not Event 1 on the WSOP Circuit schedule. The first WSOPC event has a $500,000 guarantee.
The highlight of the 10-day festival is the $1,700 Main Event beginning October 19. Players can choose from two starting flights, the first on October 19 and the second on October 20. The tournament boasts a $1 million guaranteed prize pool. The winner will take the title, a gold ring, the lion's share of the prize money, plus a seat in the Global Casino Championship.
Horseshoe Hammond has a long history of exciting poker festivals with the WSOP Circuit. Last year, the series was an outstanding success. The opening event attracted a field of 2,349 players who hailed from all over the region. It surpassed its guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 by more than $200,000.
The 2017 WSOP Circuit Main Event at Horseshoe Hammond was an even bigger success. The outstanding number of entries, 1,247, helped nearly double the guaranteed prize pool of $1 million for a total of $1,870,500. Winner Blake Battaglia of Chicago took the top prize of $332,020.
