US Poker Open returning next February
It seems like only yesterday that the first installment of the US Poker Open (USPO) was wrapping up, but the countdown has already begun for the second season. The USPO returns to the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas next February, marking the second leg of the "High Roller Triple Crown" that is comprised of the USPO, the Super High Roller Bowl and the Poker Masters. The series of events will be broadcast exclusively on PokerGo.
There will be a total of ten events in the series - four $10,000 events, four $25,000 events, a $50,000 event and a $100,000 Main Event. The USPO runs from February 13-23, with the Main Event scheduled to get underway on February 22. Added to the mix this year will be two short-deck events with buy-ins of $10,000 and $25,000. They will be held on February 16 and 20, respectively.
Players who make deep runs in the series will be awarded Championship points. The player who earns the most points will pick up the tournament trophy and an added bonus of $100,000, which is being offered by Poker Central.
Stephen Chidwick was the big winner last year, cashing in five events and making it to the final table in four of the eight tournaments. He won back-to-back $25,000 events in NLHE and Mixed Game formats and came in second at another $25,000 NLHE game. By the time the series completed, he had picked up over $1.25 million in prize money and will forever be known as the first player to ever win a USPO title.
