Super High Roller Bowl to be held in December
The next edition of the Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB) is now set. Poker Central has announced that the high-stakes tournament will be held November 17-19 at the Aria in Las Vegas and guarantees that the winner will receive at least $5 million.
The SHRB isn’t for everyone. The buy-in for the event is $300,000 and there are only 48 spots available. However, given that this is the fifth time the event has been held, it is obvious that it has a significant following.
The tournament has been held previously in May. Poker Central didn’t provide a reason for the switch – perhaps it is to separate it more from the WSOP, which generally follows just after the SHRB, or perhaps just to give winners a nice Christmas bonus.
Justin Bonomo took down the tournament last year. He overcame a challenging field to finally beat Daniel Negreanu in the final heads-up battle to pick up the $5 million top prize. As massive as the pot was, it was only half of that he won at the WSOP $1-million Big One for One Drop.
On November 27, Poker Central will hold a lottery to award the first 25 entries. Aria Resort will also select 18 players. The remaining five places will be awarded to the top five points holders on the 2018 High Roller of the Year leaderboard.
The tournament will be available live on Poker Central’s PokerGO app.
