San Diego's Viejas Casino & Hotel completes renovations
After a facelift that took seven years to complete, San Diego's Viejas Casino and Resort has finally put the final nail in place. The renovation project was a huge undertaking and the result is a completely redesigned property that offers more amenities and a fresh venue for area gamblers. To celebrate, the owners of the Viejas, the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, will hold a series of celebrations in commemoration of the monumental feat.
The celebrations will take place next weekend, October 19-21. There will be an exclusive VIP event, a public grand opening with giveaways and the unveiling of a new center bar. The prizes for the grand opening include over $250,000 in cash and prizes - a Mercedes-Benz convertible will go to one lucky winner - in conjunction with circus performances, live music a fireworks show and hors-d'oeuvres from all six of the venue's restaurants.
The resort now offers a new 15,415-square-foot gaming area, including over 80 new poker and slot machines and eight exclusive VIP tables. There is also a new 1,900-square-foot, 360-degree bar with televisions and 50 gaming machines. The last of three hotel towers will be inaugurated, as well.
In a press release, the chairman of the resort and the tribe, Robert Welch, Jr., said, “We’re thrilled to see the entire property come together and are proud of all the incredible improvements. It took seven years to bring our vision to reality and create a truly remarkable casino and resort, where our guests can enjoy all the new offerings and amenities.
“The expansion also connects us to a broader audience because we now have something luxurious and exciting for everyone to enjoy, be it adults who love gaming, to young couples who enjoy spending time at a high-end pool, or families looking for an all-day or weekend destination.
“Our new center bar, which is the biggest in the San Diego area, will be a popular meetup point in the casino. We’re looking forward to having our guests finally experience it.”
