New documentary goes behind the scenes at the WSOP
Poker Central wants poker enthusiasts to see what goes on as poker players get ready for big games. It has announced a new short-form documentary series that follows several players and production activity behind the 2018 WSOP. The series, "Beyond the Rail," expects to provide a view of poker never seen by the public before.
Each episode of the documentary series will focus on a particular player, such as Antonio Esfandiari or Chris Moorman. Coverage includes a look at how games are produced and broadcast and how players ready themselves for the poker action. A number of WSOP games are covered and the final episode will feature the final table from the WSOP Main Event this past summer.
The first episode is already available. Poker Central has uploaded it to its official YouTube channel and viewers will be able to follow Esfandiari as he gets ready for the game. There will be another seven episodes and each will be streamed exclusively on PokerGo throughout the rest of this week.
According to Poker Central VP of Content Sam Simmons, “The 2018 World Series of Poker is behind us, but the entertainment continues as fans get more access to the tournament than ever before. Beyond the Rail shows poker enthusiasts the intricate work of poker producers, the day-to-day humanity of the players themselves, and the sheer heart that everyone involved puts into making WSOP an annual success.”
The series was produced in collaboration with Primal NY. Primal's Executive Producer and President, Robert Conticelli, added, "The team at PokerGO has provided incredible access and support for this project, which enabled us to do unprecedented things with Beyond The Rail. It's the closest you'll get to actually living the World Series of Poker. Primal NY’s style of filming was paramount to showcasing the atmosphere of this amazing event, giving viewers a sense of the real people on the ground at the WSOP who make it happen."
