Golden Knights, William Hill sign sponsorship deal
Bookmaker William Hill and the Vegas Golden Knights are now partners. It marks the first time an NHL team has combined forces with a sportsbook, but follows several recent partnerships between professional sports teams and gambling-related enterprises.
Through the multi-year deal, league-wide odds will be displayed during intermissions of games at the T-Mobile Arena, the home field for the Golden Knights, as well as the introduction of the "William Hill Line Change," a sponsorship plug every time the team makes line changes, and additional marketing for the sportsbook.
According to Kerry Bubolz, president of the Golden Knights, “We are always looking for innovative ways to engage different segments of our fan base and provide a unique fan experience. This partnership between a major professional team and a sportsbook operator is a historic, landmark agreement and we are delighted to be leading the way with William Hill in this space.”
He further added in an interview with Sports Business Daily, “We have a really unique marketplace because of all the gaming companies located here, so from day one this category has been one of our key targets. Even though we couldn’t promote the sportsbook component with our gaming partners, we were fortunate to be able to develop significant relationships that…helped us learn how they view the space and what’s important to them.”
The partnership will give William Hill a tremendous amount of exposure. It also gives the sportsbook a place in history as the first bookmaker to team up with a major sports franchise in the US.
