A new iPhone? Or a seat in The Cage?
Apple is set to launch a batch of new iPhones today. And as tempting as whatever they’re about to announce likely is, we’ve got a much better way to spend $1,000.
Tonight at 7pm ET, The Cage gets underway at Americas Cardroom. The $1,000+50 event is a time-based cash game that feels a lot like a tournament.
If you’re new to The Cage, it’s pretty simple. Your $1,000+50 buy-in gets you 1,000 starting chips, each with a $1 value. There are five levels in The Cage with increasing blinds and antes. Each level lasts 55 minutes.
At the end of the five levels, it’s game over. That’s right, The Cage doesn’t play down to a winner. It plays down to a clock. And when it strikes zero, you get paid for your remaining chip stack, dollar for dollar. So if you’re sitting on a 6,327 tall chip stack, you’ll get $6,327.
One more thing. There are no rebuys or add-ons or re-entries or anything else with a “re” or “add” in the name. When you bust out, you’re out.
There are satellites leading into The Cage, so you don’t have to shell out the entire $1,000+50, which is perfect because we all know that whatever iPhone that Apple releases today will make your current phone obsolete.
