Vince Van Patten to star in gambling movie
A film coming to the big screen will star Vince Van Patten, John O'Hurley and Willie Garson. The movie, titled "Walk to Vegas," will also feature cameo appearances by several well-known poker names, including Antonio Esfandiari, Mike Sexton, Phil Laak and Oscar-nominated actress and poker player Jennifer Tilly. Walk to Vegas was filmed last year and is a true story that revolves around the elite from Hollywood and their gambling practices.
Van Patten, son of actor Dick Van Patten, plays "Duke," a man who has made a $1-million wager that he could walk all the way from Southern California to Las Vegas. The film offers the big three of Hollywood's attractions - violence, suspense and even gratuitous nudity. It was directed by Eric Balfour and the trailer can be viewed here.
The premise of the movie is loosely based on a bet made between Dan Bilzerian and Bill Perkins. Bilzerian picked up $600,000 for successfully traveling to Las Vegas from Los Angeles on a bike. Of course, Van Patten's journey will be more arduous, given the fact that he has to walk the entire distance. To make it more interesting, he has to wear a suit the entire time.
Van Patten is no stranger to the screen. He appeared on shows such as Bonanza and Wonder Woman as a child in the 70s, and more recently was on Baywatch and The Young and the Restless. Before getting into poker, he was a professional tennis player, ranking as high as 26th in the world before retiring in 1987.
