Pennsylvania’s Poker Leader Ramps Up Deal for Online Gambling
Parx Casino is the uncontested king of poker in Pennsylvania. This week, the casino demonstrated its intention to hold the same title in the state’s online gambling market with the announcement of a broadened agreement with GAN, Parx’s igaming platform partner.
Parx’s partnership with GAN goes back to March 2015, but this month the two companies signed again, extending and expanding their original online gambling deal to include retail and online sports betting. The deal gives GAN control of a master account for all wagering under the Parx brand.
In a press release issued on Monday, Parx named GAN the sold provider of their online casino and sports betting offering. The move will allow users to play out of a single account, pulling funds for all Parx gaming from a unified online wallet.
The online wallet will provide live poker players with a unique spending option in the market – players at Parx will be able to play with funds from their online wallet in-person at Parx Casino. The wallet is expected to appeal most to poker players, providing them the convenience of a single location for their online and live bankroll.
Will the online wallet be enough to give Parx the same edge online as it has in person? Parx recently downsized its poker room from 81 tables to 48, but it was all part of a major upgrade and it still has the most tables of any poker room in the state.
Wednesday, Parx kicks off its Big Stax XXVI poker tournament. The casino anticipates around 3,000 poker players to participate in the series.
