Live! Casino Maryland is Officially Complete with Opening of Live! Hotel
The tallest building in Anne Arundel County is live and open for business. Live! Hotel, an amenity of Maryland's Live! Casino, held its grand opening on Wednesday. Casino officials say the 310-room hotel tower built atop the casino officially completes the Live complex.
The tower appears to already be boosting revenue for Live, though it is hard to tell. It arrives at a time when all six Maryland casinos are experiencing year-over-year gains. According to the state Lottery and Gaming Control Agency, the industry is up 14.1 percent as of June. Live was slightly above the average with a 15.1 percent revenue uptick last month.
A spokesperson for Live! Casino reports that based on in-house tracking, the bulk of their new business is coming from outside the market. He said it demonstrates that Live is not pulling business from other state casinos, but boosting market growth through attractive new amenities.
The new hotel complex began taking bookings a few weeks ago. More than just rooms, the complex includes an event space, a gym, and a spa. The event space already has several hot acts lined up for the remainder of the year, including comedians Dennis Miller, Dane Cook, and Ken Jeong, as well as '90s musicians Salt-N-Pepa and Vanilla Ice.
Live music brings meaning to the property's name. The newest concert hall in Anne Arundel County, the Live! Hotel event space currently provides seating for 1,400, but planned upgrades will see the space to grow to 4,000 seats in the near future.
