The Giant Seminole Hard Rock Guitar-Shaped Casino is Taking Shape in Florida
The Seminole Tribe of Florida are building a new casino in Hollywood, Florida and after only three months it is already taking shape. The form of what will be a giant guitar is recognizable. The new casino will house the region's most massive poker room.
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood will soon be a distinct figure in the South Florida Skyline. The $1.5 billion casino expansion will stand 450 feet tall but will appear much taller due to beams of light projected from the top of the building, creating the illusion that the guitar strings stretch up into the sky.
James Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International, said the building is the first of its kind in the world. It is the first guitar-shaped building that is true to scale of an authentic guitar. Allen says they expect the building's design alone to boost Florida tourism.
The expansion will add 806 new rooms to the hotel, 683 of which will be inside the guitar, plus 60,000-square-feet of new shopping and dining options. Part of the price tag includes a full remodel of the Hard Rock Live venue to create a 7,000-seat amphitheater.
The highlight of the construction project, at least for area poker players, will be a new 18,000-square-foot poker room – the most massive poker room ever constructed in the state of Florida. Hard Rock Hollywood is currently equipped with a 40-table poker room that offers cash games and tournaments 24/7. The Seminole have yet to announce how many tables will be available in the new poker room.
