Gaming Conference in Atlantic City Timed to Coincide with Legal Sports Betting
Just one week after New Jersey legalized sports betting, Atlantic City will host the East Coast Gaming Congress and NexGen Gaming Forum. The highlight of this year's Congress will be a panel discussion on the future of esports wagering. The conference takes place June 13-14 at Harrah's Waterfront Conference Center.
The 22nd Annual East Coast Gaming Congress has a lot to celebrate this year. Not only is it the start of legal sports betting in New Jersey, but it is the 40th anniversary of casino gambling in Atlantic City. The presence of esports and video games at the conference is significant as well, as it represents the fastest growing trends in the industry.
Casinos in Atlantic City and elsewhere are quickly realizing that the old slot machines and table games are not attracting millennials the way they drew their parents and grandparents. Esports and esports betting is widely believed to be the next big thing in the gambling industry, but it all hinges on regulations.
Among the esports companies that will have a presence at the conference is Millennial Esports Corp., a publisher best known for their racing titles. The company is promoting their competitive platform that they say can be adapted to include new forms of sports wagering.
Regulations proposed in a New Jersey bill last week would see a ban on esports betting, treating the industry the same as high school athletics. Millennial Esports CEO Alex Igelman says his company is excited to help New Jersey and other states better understand the esports industry.
