'Pinocchio's Ride for the Tatas' poker run set for May 26
Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. The annual Pinocchio's Ride for the Tatas is a two-day motorcycle poker run and party that raises funds for Moms on the Run (MOR) charity in Reno, NV. The ninth installment of the two-day run will be held this weekend, May 19 and 20 and is sponsored by Pinocchio's Bar & Grill.
The fun kicks off Saturday night with a prime rib dinner, no-host bar and live and silent auctions. Those riders who want to participate in the poker run can also pick up their entry packets during the dinner. The dinner will be held at the Reno Ballroom on N. Center St., and the doors will open at 4:00 PM.
Rain or shine, the festivities get underway sharply at 8:00 AM Sunday morning when the gates are opened to the Court St. parking lot. Opening Ceremonies will begin at 9:30 AM, and riders take off at 10:00 AM. Stops will be held at Tahoe Creamery, Battle Born Harley, Bucket of Blood, Carson Valley Inn, Washoe Camp and Reno Cycles and Gear. Riders have to return their cards by 3:00 PM.
The rider with the highest hand will win $1,500, and a costume contest will also see riders awarded prizes for the best dressed. Riders are encouraged to dress up in pink.
MOR is a non-profit organization that raises money for women who are battling gynecological or breast cancer. According to the group's website, momsontherun.info, the charity raises funds "to help cover everyday living expenses of northern Nevada families enduring hardships caused by a catastrophic circumstance, with a primary focus on assisting individuals with breast and gynecological cancers and their families."
