Global Poker Index Names Eric Danis President
After years as head of poker content, Eric Danis prepares to step into a new role at Mediarex, the parent company of the Global Poker Index and The Hendon Mob database. Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Mediarex, named Danis president of both the GPI and THM this week.
Danis has been with the company through years of changes. His contributions, first as head statistician for the company and then as the lead of poker content, have helped THM and the GPI become the most respected poker databases on the internet and household names in the poker community.
In a recent interview with Flushdraw, Danis told Haley Hintze that he is now the head of the company's entire poker operation. His first plan is to expand upon both THM and the GPI with new statistics. He also plans to expand the company's social media presence as well as live events for poker fans.
Danis' says his goal for the company is to become the industry leader for information poker players, media members and fans are seeking. He gained valuable experience this year organizing the American Poker Awards. Danis himself was honored at the ceremony as the winner of the Jury Prize.
In his acceptance speech, Danis spoke about his recent battle with testicular cancer, from which he recovered quickly. He told the audience how his doctor reported a success rate of 80 to 85 percent, to which he replied that 15 to 20 percent odds are pretty high in his game.
