The Strip’s First Esports Venue Opens Thursday with an Esports Showcase
The first esports-dedicated venue on the Las Vegas Strip opens its doors tomorrow. Esports Arena Las Vegas at Luxor Hotel and Casino opens Thursday with an industry showcase including streaming sensation “Ninja” and other celebrities, music, and high-stakes tournaments.
Luxor is planning a weekend-long celebration that features multiple live shows between leading esports teams, over 20 pro players and industry influencers, and the debut of the first esports menu created by chef José Andres.
The tournaments matchups include SonicFox vs. Go1 and Rogue vs. Ghost Gaming in Rocket League; eUnited vs. Spacestation in Smite, among others. Dan “Frodan” Chou will host the events on Thursday along with esports analyst Jack “CouRage” Dunlop. Zach “Coney” Zeeks will introduce speakers on stage.
On Friday, several prominent players will live stream from Esports Arena Las Vegas throughout the day, including CouRage, Rumay “Hafu” Wang, and David “Dog” Caero.
On Saturday and Sunday, the showcase will feature Super Smash Bros for Wii U, including top casters and analysts. The event will serve as the kick off for Smash Masters League: Battle for Vegas, which is the first global circuit established for the title. From Vegas, the league kicks off a global tour with stops throughout North America, in Europe, and China.
Winners from each regional Smash Masters League tournament earn a spot in the championship, which will take place in Las Vegas in December.
On Saturday night, the arena will host its first esports concert, the Esports Music Experience, with headliner Pegboard Nerds, Grimecraft, and Trav Piper.
