Parx Hosts First Tournament in New Poker Room: Big Stax XXIV
Parx Casino in Pennsylvania is ready to break in its new poker room. The casino will host its first poker tournament since the unveiling the remodeled poker digs last month. The Big Stax XXIV tournament begins on February 28 with the $340 buy-in Big Stax 300.
The new Parx poker room is flush with golden trimmings. Ring lights supply mood lighting that glimmers on a million gilded surfaces in the new fancy-but-not-too-fancy room. Resorts often find it hard to balance luxury with comfort and necessity in their poker room designs.
Players from throughout the region are about to find out how the new Parx poker room stacks up. Its makeover was a lesser part of a massive expansion project that included the new 1,500-seat Xcite Center, Parxgrill, and the new Liberty Bell Gastropub. The casino plans to host concerts, boxing matches, and comedy shows at the new event center.
The latest edition of Parx Big Stax tournament features a $2,500 High Roller and a $1,500 Main Event. The series runs through March 9 and includes a Double Black Chip Bounty event; an NL Hold’em Survivor event, a Pot-Limit Omaha/NL Hold’em Mix, and a Deep Stack Turbo.
Parx’s last Big Stax took place in December. It’s $200 opener attracted 2,100 entries, building a prize pool of $375,000.However, October’s Big Stax event created a prize pool of nearly $580,000. Main Event winner mark Perry collected $100,680. The most massive prize paid out by the series went to Maxwell Young, who won the Big Stax 1500 for $120,930.
