Nuggets rally in fourth quarter to beat the Spurs
The Nuggets showed some last-minute energy in last night’s matchup against the Spurs, rallying both its offense and defense in the fourth quarter to block the San Antonio team. Despite an exciting game with multiple lead changes, with just under eight minutes to play, Will Barton gave the Nuggets the lead, and the team never looked back. They are now 31-26 for the season, and have one more game on Thursday leading into the All-Star break.
The Spurs led 61-58 going into the second half but weren’t able to keep their balance. By the time the third quarter ended, the Nuggets had outscored the Spurs 6-2, but were still down 90-87. The Nuggets took a one-point advantage midway through the final quarter, then dropped eight unanswered points in the final minutes to extend their lead. The Spurs never seemed to be able to regroup, and were down 14 points with only three minutes left in the game. The Nuggets would go on to win 117-109.
Denver has now racked up eight wins in their last eleven matchups and is tied for sixth place in the Western Conference. They are 2-1 in the series, giving them a slight edge in the tie. The Nuggets have only won twice in 17 games against the Spurs, who have a season record of 35-24.
