LA to host charity poker tourney for the Folded Flag Foundation
On February 25, the Andaz Hotel West Hollywood in Los Angeles will play host to a high-profile charity poker tournament. Poker players and the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation will come together to support the Folded Flag Foundation, founded by Vegas Golden Knights owner Bill Foley to support military servicemembers and their families. The tournament is part of the Charity Series of Poker (CSOP), which creates poker events specifically for charitable causes.
The tournament has been dubbed "Above the Fold - A Sky-High Salute to Service and Sacrifice." It will kick off at 1 PM, and is hosted and emceed by Hall of Fame inductee Daniel Negreanu. There will be a $400 buy-in charity tournament, with rebuys and add-ons available for $200. After the tournament, attendees will be invited to a reception and casino night, featuring hors-d'oeuvres, an open bar and a silent auction. Tickets for the reception are available for $195.
Joining Negreanu at the event will be other poker greats such as Todd Brunson, Lacey Jones and Adam Levy. Matt Stout, founder and president of the CSOP, will also be sitting down at the felt. The tournament winner will earn a chance to participate in the 2018 WSOP, with the top six finalists taking home cash payouts. Prizes are available to the chip leader at the end of the rebuy period, as the player who makes the most rebuys. In addition to the possibility of being able to get into the 2018 WSOP, the winner will be given a special prize - a one-on-one showdown against Kid Poker.
