Garden State Super Series Returns in March with $365,000 in Guarantees
The Spring 2018 Garden State Super Series begins its eighth run in March. Presented by Borgata Poker and PartyPoker NJ, the series includes $365,000 in guarantees and offers tournament buy-ins as low as $55. The highest buy-in is for the $1,060 High Roller event.
A total of 17 events make up the GSSS schedule. It boasts $95,000 more in guarantees than the 2017 CSSS but adds just three additional tournaments. Most events are no limit hold’em, six max, turbo, or bounty events, but there is one pot-limit Omaha in the mix. The main event of the series is a $320 buy-in with a $100,000 guarantee.
Borgata appears to be sticking with the strategy it turned to last year of running fewer events with slightly higher buy-ins as opposed to dozens of smaller events as the site has done in GSSS of years past. The result is a more streamlined series and tournaments that attract a higher number of players.
The top three finishers of the first 13 events in the series will get a bonus along with their prize money – a seat in the main event. The network is posting the entry fee for a total of 39 players, thus adding $12,000 in value to the prize pool.
The series kicks off March 18 and runs through March 25. Another online poker series, the PokerStars Turbo Series, is about to wrap up in New Jersey. Known as the Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP), it is the first time the series has run in New Jersey. It is set to wrap up the last of 28 events on March 4. The total series included $250,000 in guaranteed prize pools.
