The Empire State Hold’em Championships are back at Turning Stone Resort in New York. The annual poker series may not offer the biggest player fields or any high roller events, but it is a long-time favorite for locals. The tournament began August 7 and runs through August 20.

The Main Event of the series, a $100,000 guaranteed $570 tournament with three starting flights, began on August 10 and concluded on August 13. However, there is still a major tournament to come.

Thursday, August 17 kicks off a $50,000 guaranteed no-limit hold’em tournament with six starting flights. The tournament will also offer re-entry during levels 1-14, which should run through Saturday. The buy-in for this event is only $250, and players can get in for even less through turbo qualifiers that promise a seat in the tournament to one out of every five players.

Though the Empire State series is set to wrap up this weekend, there is still plenty of great events to come. Aside from the $50,000 guaranteed tournament, there is a Deep Stack Turbo event with $50 bounties and several turbo qualifiers running through Saturday.

Turning Stone is also offers players additional ways to win, such as a $200 High Hand prize which pays out Sunday through Thursday every week, and a $300 High Hand prize on Fridays. The casino’s Bad Beat Jackpot is also brimming near $400,000 at last count – meaning one lucky loser could win more than even the highest tournament payout in the series.
