Important Notice: ACR Temporarily Down Due to DDoS Attack
By Bob Garcia
Things don’t always go as planned. By now you no doubt noticed that you’re unable to login to your Americas Cardroom poker client.
Yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, April 4th) we started experiencing Distributed-Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks by an unknown third party. Now, we’ve decided to take the site down while we mitigate the problem.
For those of you who don’t know, a DDoS attack happens through a flooding of the bandwidth on targeted systems or servers.
Our DDoS mitigation team is working hard to rectify the situation and we expect to be back up and running soon. Temporarily suspending games was necessary so that players are not inconvenienced by possible disruptions, ensuring fair gameplay for everyone.
This isn’t the first time we’ve had to overcome situations such as these. Multiple times in 2014, during the launch of our Million Dollar Sundays tournaments, we were forced to mitigate a wave of DDoS attacks. We were successfully able to deal with those issues and restore full functionality in a short period of time. We expect the same results with the current attacks.
We appreciate your loyalty and patience while we work to fix the problem. We’ll update you on our progress through the Big Blind Blog and our social media channels.
