Montreal Nationals On Way to Final In GPL

Day 1 of the Global Poker League’s final showdown in Las Vegas took place yesterday as the American Conference played things out to provide a final winner. Out of the four American teams that went through, in the end it was the first-place Montreal Nationals who ended up winning the conference to face one of the Eurasians tomorrow.

The Nationals started the day playing the fourth-placed San Francisco Rush and for a while it seemed like the Rush might actually cause an upset and win the thing but Montreal ended up coming through to face the Los Angeles Sunset in the final. LA reached the final by beating third-placed Sao Paolo in the second game of the play offs meaning that the final brought the top two seeds together  as was expected.

In the final it was the LA captain Maria Ho who stood out after she brought things back for the West Coasters after they dropped down 2-0 in rapid succession. Eventually Ho was knocked out by the Montreal team captain Marc-Andre Ladouceur to push the Canadian team one step closer to winning the first ever GPL championship title.

As the defeated American Conference teams go home today, the Montreal Nationals will take a day off to relax as the Eurasians take their turn to battle for their winner to face then in the grand final tomorrow.
